LOCAL AUTHOR ANNOUNCES NEW LANCASHIRE MUSICAL – ‘MIND THE TRAMS’
Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire
The heart of Lancashire may soon beat to a brand-new tune as local author, songwriter and poet Gabriel Undici announces plans for an original musical inspired by the people and places of Oswaldtwistle.
Based on the acclaimed novel Mind The Trams, the production tells the story of ordinary Lancashire lives on the eve of the Second World War. Set amongst the mills, bakeries and tramlines of 1939, the musical follows a community facing uncertain times with courage, humour and quiet resilience.
Featuring twenty original songs, the Mind The Trams Songbook has recently been released and is now available to stream on Spotify. The collection introduces memorable characters including Doris Whittaker, Robert, Jimmy, George, William, Jerry, Black Bob and the unforgettable Philomena, each bringing another piece of Lancashire’s rich social history to life.
Gabriel Undici, an Accrington author and songwriter, said:
“Mind The Trams has always been about ordinary people. Their stories deserved to be remembered—not just in a novel, but through music. Every song adds another voice to the streets of Oswaldtwistle.”

Local supporters have welcomed the project as a celebration of Lancashire’s heritage, capturing the humour, kindness and determination of communities whose stories are too often overlooked.
Although no performance dates have yet been announced, excitement is already building as the Booking Office Opening Soon campaign begins appearing across social media and online.
