Every great musical begins with memorable characters and unforgettable songs.
Following the release of the Mind The Trams Songbook, the next stage of the project is already beginning to take shape. The twenty original songs have been arranged in theatrical sequence, telling the story of a Lancashire community on the eve of the Second World War.
Set against the backdrop of Oswaldtwistle in 1939, the songs move from the warmth of Lockwood’s Bakery and the excitement of St George’s Ballroom to the heartbreak of war and the quiet strength of those left behind.
While still in development, the long-term vision is to adapt Mind The Trams into an original British stage musical celebrating Lancashire’s people, humour and resilience.
The project combines historical fiction, original songwriting and cinematic storytelling into a unique creative experience, offering audiences something both nostalgic and refreshingly original.
